The challenge
Since we have been actively maintaining and adapting the Angie software to meet Loren's needs our team had some valuable insight into what could be improved and how to improve it. With its outdated looks the front end needed a major makeover so the app could provide the promised functionality with ease.
The greatest challenge was to improve the GUI and UX so different elements of the dashboard could be easily distinguished by the user and thus better perceived. The GUI of the dashboard could benefit from a cleaner structure and more focus on simplicity and user-friendliness.
The solution
- Upgrading the legacy
The Angie software with its dated looks and features needed serious efforts to modernise it according to Loren's vision. Limitations in the notifications and the rule time span were overcome and new features were added for greater flexibility and better utilisation of the system.
- Front-end redesign
The redesign of Angie - now Mondis - began with a simple but vital realisation: the app needed a clear structure and a well-defined concept to support its growing complexity. As the platform evolved, so did the volume and density of information it had to display. This called for a fresh approach to both design and user experience.
We started with a thorough audit and analysis of the existing interface, identifying points of friction and inconsistencies. From there, the team developed a structured plan focused on improving the user experience through time-tested design principles. The new design emphasises:
- Clarity and simplicity – Information is organised to be quickly readable and easily understood at a glance, even in data-heavy views;
- Consistency – Buttons, colors, icons, and menus now follow a unified logic across the platform, reducing cognitive load and user confusion;
- User feedback and control – Every interaction provides immediate and clear feedback (e.g. loading indicators, confirmation messages), giving users confidence in their actions;
- Minimalism with purpose – Given the complexity of the data, the visual design remains intentionally clean, letting function lead form and minimising distractions;
- Recognition over recall – Choices and actions are surfaced in context, reducing the need for users to memorise workflows;
- Ease of use for all – Whether a first-time user or a seasoned operator, everyone can now orient themselves quickly thanks to intuitive layout and guidance;
- Error prevention – The interface is designed to help users avoid mistakes before they happen, with clear labels, visual distinctions for critical actions, and confirmation steps where needed.
The redesign delivers not just a more attractive interface, but a more thoughtful, guided, and user-friendly experience — empowering users to manage assets and interpret data with greater confidence and ease.

- Back-end tweaks
To support the improved user experience, key back-end enhancements were made behind the scenes. These included:
- New alarm notifications with persistent logs, enabling better visibility into system activity and history.
- Flexible rule scheduling, removing previous time-span limitations and allowing more intuitive rule creation.
- Performance and maintainability tweaks that ensure the system runs reliably as it scales.
These technical updates were essential in making the UX redesign functional, seamless, and future-ready — allowing the front end to deliver on its promises with speed and precision.
